MoriKun>   Finally I got around to build the newer version of bison on Sparc. It built fine, but it failed on testsuite 247. A little research showed that this patch of regression.at will fix the problem. After that I read about the Shmoocon hacker conference demo, and that scared me that I have "Blink" on my credit card. MoriKun>   Well, I woke up in the morning, and routinely checked software update on my iMac desktop. After updating kernel to linux-image-2.6.32-5-amd64 (2.6.32-41), it caused the ATI propriety linux driver to malfunction. I got a black screen. To get X back, I had to uninstall the ATI driver, and manually removed /lib/modules/2.6.32-5-amd64/updates/dkms/fglrx.ko. Then reinstalled the AMD Catalyst 11.11 driver rev 12.1. And happy birthday to iPad. Today marks the 2 years anniversay of iPad. The iPad was introduced by Steve Jobs on January 27, 2010. I love photography, do you? There are two new products that might change the way we take pictures. One is Tamaggo the egg sharp 360 imager, and the other is Lytro the light field camera. I watched the show back to back 3 times, and tried to take in as much as I could. Totally overwhelmed, I left and took the next flight back home. It is a short day trip to SF :)... 2012-01-11

MoriKun>   Ok, I joined the Black Friday crowd and bought an iMac (iMac12,1) and saved myself $101 :). The new system would replace my ancient G4 iLamp. Right after I got the iMac, I changed the iMac to dual boot Mac OSX and Debian Squeeze. I followed mostly the instructions from: Ubuntu Help and Debian Wiki. For most part, the installation was smooth, and rEFit is very helpful. Beside running into some minor issue with the bluetooth keyboard and Magic Mouse, the video was a bitch. I had to install fglrx-driver and fglrx-glx and then made my own xorg.conf using fglrx_drv as the driver. And finally removed the very stupid AMD unsupported hardware watermark using this instruction. Doh! Then I discovered that I could not adjust brightness with the fglrx driver, so I had to remove them and install the ATI proprietary driver. 2011-11-28

You probably missed the good old Sunsolve, since Oracle MySupport is not exactly what I would call user friendly. But then, I have discovered We Sunsolve. That site make Solaris patch search easy again. Since we are talking about patching, you might have noticed that after upgrading to Solaris 10 update 10, all the kernel from patch above revision 147440-01 would cause kernel crash if you have OBP rev below 4.12. I found the problem the hard way. I was glad that I used live upgrade to patch, so I was able to correct the problem. The latest kernel patch 147440-04 is supposed to fix the issue. Then, I will approach with that care... 2011-10-17
